Response to a Comment

This is a Reply to Truth Seeker who commented on the first blog.  My response was too long so I decided to make it a post. My response speaks to Dahn Yoga’s 2020 prophecy which I think sheds light onto first half of this persons comment. And in regards to the second part of this person comment I share Dahn Yoga’s monthly goals in more detail in hopes to shed a clear picture of how Dahn Yoga operates.

Their original post:
Thanks for following up. To be clear, I had completed the Dahn Master course and received the buk bop, but was never a full time employee. We did, however, have a strong center with a very tight sense of community and camaraderie amongst those of us who completed the training. There were many of us who agreed that “those were the best days of our lives.” But something happened. The new region manager became flippant and transparent in his zeal to “fleece” the members. A lot of very active and loyal members became frustrated and dropped out. It seemed that they tried even harder to coerce the remaining members to commit more and more money. Surprisingly, the best features of the practice, very intense physical training and deep meditation practice, was more or less abandoned in favor of joining “groups” which carried $10,000 price tags and promoted only further fundraising. The new center manager was a younger master who couldn’t hide her frustration in alienating her members in a desperate attempt to sell the new “Mago castle membership”. In short, nearly all that made the practice wonderful became, well, “ugly.” At this point, I yearn for the return of the practice which genuinely focused on developing spiritual growth and genuine empathy for all humans. Is it possible to get that magical time back? I am still a member, due to the lifetime membership, but the thought of returning to the daily practice brings mixed feelings. Will I feel wonderful again or frustrated and angry as the center manager tries to take advantage once again. I would gladly share my thoughts with her, but history has taught that she cannot hear anything but her own sales pitch. Like you, I miss it and want it back, but want to cleanse the practice from the ugly, rigid and greedy cancer that seems to lie within. It has been three years recovering from the detachment. I seemed depressed and confused for a really long time. At this point, I can keep moving away, or try to reconnect in a more healthy manner. Can that be done? I appreciate your efforts nd I’m sure others feel the same. What do you think?

My Response (First part):

Unfortunately your experience is true for a lot of people. For some when they first meet with Dahn Yoga its NO WAY and for others its AMAZING but then slowly it changes. First, I’d like to shed light onto the abrupt intensity you experienced.... And I’ll start by saying there are Dahn Masters and Masters; Masters are people who leave their lives to share Dahn as their life’s calling and purpose and they take a different training than Dahn Masters and its at this level where Dahn Yoga's truest intentions and methods are revealed.

In 2015, Ilchi Lee told his Masters that there are 5 years left to change the course of the world. He used the metaphor of a train, in essence he said…

“if a train is going at X speed it takes Y energy to stop it, well Earth is going X speed towards destruction of humanity and it takes Y amount of energy to stop it but with the momentum the Earth is going we wont be able to stop it unless we change the course of humanity…and we only have five years, until the year 2020 because its at this point there will be no turning back. We wont be able to stop the course of humanity towards destruction after 2020.”

I was in that global meeting (streaming online for all Masters to see. If I recall correctly, it was on new years day itself.) He was ardent in sharing his belief, which seemed like a prophecy to Masters who at that level are so indoctrinated into everything he says, it literally registers as Truth and as a Master you don’t doubt Ilchi Lee, you don’t doubt Truth. (That’s the level of mind control that is reached at Master’s Level).  The Mago Castle membership, was THE membership in Ilchi Lee's “last” attempt to help the world before there was no turning back. I hope I am portraying the intensity and urgency because that’s what he made sure the Masters felt. So the speed and urgency of masters increased. He used the term 10 fold. Dahn yoga must grow 10fold and FAST, as if it was only up to Dahn Yoga to change humanity’s outcome. He said there needed to be 1million Mago Castle Members and this would change the course of humanity because at 1 million people with this kind of spiritual membership it would change the frequency of the Earth.  The goals and expectations of masters became HUGE. And the memberships became more pricey and ethereal. And a lot of members, dahn masters, and masters quit. It was a year or so after this meeting I quit as a master.  For many reasons, but the pressure I was expected to put onto members became unbearable and Ilchi Lees way of measuring success seemed flawed at best.  Ilchi Lee may have intentions to make a world a better place, but its clear he operates from fear and he is spreading fear amongst all his Masters and members.  And unfortunately Masters believe their content, their belief system IS truth, is right and therefore any person who has trouble with it, is because of the person like its their lack of opening or some inability. Masters never think to blame Ilchi Lee’s visions and most important his methodology. So I think this should help explain what happened to your center, you felt the urgency and pressure that the master (center manager) was also feeling which was coming from the top, Ilchi Lee.  But luckily you aren’t as indoctrinated into Ilchi Lee’s “cult” so you could remove yourself from such a toxic environment.
(Side not: Even if there was five years to change the humanity course towards destruction, I think such fear and group egotism “dahn yoga, Mago Castle membership is the only way” is counterproductive and making people pay 10,000 to become a Mago Castle Member does not mean these people energetically change ‘towards creating a better frequency’. For example: One dahn master donated 10k to become mago castle membership, quit dahn yoga shortly after and this person was still counted towards the 1million.  And  to add, is she healthier, is she doing good things on earth like is she a better neighbor? I don’t know. But just because she donated 10k to him, Ilchi Lee says she’s helping humanity...I have more thoughts on Mago Castle Membership but I’ll move on…)

My Response Second Part:

And so back to Truth Seeker’s Original comment.. you not only talk about the changes to your center but you also said, “I yearn for the return of the practice which genuinely focused on developing spiritual growth and genuine empathy for all humans” And you ask questions like  “is it possible to get the magic back?”  “Will I feel wonderful again again or frustrated and angry as the center manage tries to take advantage once again?” “I seemed depressed and confused for a really long time. At this point, I can keep moving away, or try to reconnect in a more healthy manner. Can that be done?”

I believe in order to go back and to attempt to have a healthy relationship you would have to first understand and accept Dahn Yoga's reality. Dahn Yoga or as you know Body and Brain Yoga is not just a yoga practice. But in actuality it is spiritual organization with its own creation story, prophecy, and messiah “Ilchi Lee” and they have a vision of making the world healthier, happier and peaceful for their personal lives, for their families and for all of humanity. And they use their “yoga” exercise/meditation classes, private sessions, and workshops to help achieve their vision.  They measure the success of their vision by numbers. So each center has monthly goals and they are as follows: 12k-25k income goal, 15-25 new members and 2-5 people signed up for each workshop (and there are LOTS of workshop). So by achieving these goals they feel they are successfully spreading health, happiness, and peace DESPITE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of refunds each month. Everything is transparent. Every Master can see where each center stands throughout the month. This paints a bigger picture of Dahn Yoga / Body and Brain Yoga. The orginal vision “spread health, happiness and peace” has good intentions but as I shared I think they operate out of a place of fear and primarily use numbers to measure success. They are scared for humanity and for the Earth which is why everything a Master does is with pressure and urgency and it takes a GOOD Master/Center Manager to provide the practice (ie. Stretching, Gigam, breathing postures, tai chi, meditation) and self growth workshops and private life coaching sessions WITHOUT all the fear, pressure, sale pitches, and urgency. But actually because they feel they have until 2020 to change the course of humanity on Earth (unless Ilchi Lee changed the year…. Again…) most masters fail at filtering and the centers will likely have some lingering intensity and creepy vibes.

I think by going back you just have to be mindful, this is how they operate thus they will always try and grow you because they think that is helping you and they have a lot of pressure to make money (because they measure their success via money). I think a healthy relationship to it would be up to you because arguably the system they are operating from isn’t entirely healthy because they don’t think they are doing anything wrong (as an X-insider they think the means justify the end, they’re an “enlightened way and average people wont understanding”). So it would be up to you to have a healthy relationship with it (and in my opinion unfair to you).... I would suggest pursuing it with an open heart (because would it be worth it to you if your heart was closed and heavy, what would be the point in practing?) and with assertive boundaries (clear, kind and direct communication).

But yet I also want to say most of what dahn shares is not unique to Dahn or Ilchi Lee but actually Ilchi Lee has taken many things from many people and traditions. And there are lots of practices, people, and communities that are WAY WAY WAY less forceful and fearful and actually support people in their autonomy and self-actualization vs co-dependence, which Dahn Yoga creates and thrives from.

I ultimately recommend you having your own quiet meditation to see what you feel is right in your next step.  It seems that some part of you is longing for the good times you had there and wanting to know/hope it could feel the same. So I don’t want to be another outside voice telling you what to do, because it would be easier for me to recommend "don't go back", but I'm not going to say don't go back... if there is some part of you that just wants to try it again, just to see, to make sense of your experiences, or for whatever reason thats okay, you are okay, don't judge yourself, ultimately you want to trust yourself..... if you can trust yourself then if you go, you'll know if its okay to continue or you'll know if/when its times to move on. That sense of self trust will help you in whatever you do. You want to connect to that inner guide and wisdom inside you otherwise you'll continue to use outside information to guide you... while outside can help you, I hope you can connect to your true inner voice....that same inner voice will guide you well in everything that you do...

I hope this all makes sense and I hope it helps you in your next step. If you’d like please comment publicly again or email me privately.

  1. I truly appreciate your response and for shedding light to some of the unknown. One year ago I was a devoted member and always had the same doubts in my head. 100% agree with all you said about listening to your own inner voice and decide what’s right for you and what’s not. I also wish to bring back the old times once we had at my center, but with all the changes went on it’s no longer possible. Life is all about changes , and for me, it was time to move on and explore other things. I did learn a lot from my experience and met great warm hearted people during those days. Was it easy? NOT! But life goes on and there is so much more in the horizon! Once again, thank you for your brave and wise words. We will all make the word a better place with or without Body and Brain!
